Contemplative Prayer: A Beginner's Guide
An introduction to quiet, receptive forms of Christian prayer.
Contemplative prayer emphasizes quiet attention to God rather than continuous spoken requests. Christian traditions contain multiple contemplative methods, so no single technique represents all of them.
A simple beginning
Choose a quiet place. Begin with a short prayer of intention. Sit in silence. When distracted, gently return to a sacred word or your intention to be present. Close with gratitude.
